"Fairytales are the purest and simplest expression of collective unconscious processes." - Marie Louise von Franz.
The Anima Mundi School invites you to her Fairytale Kitchen! Come and explore with us the feminine archetype of Cinderella around the world. So many lands and cultures are filled with their Cinderella stories. The little ash girl who sleeps by fireplace is specific to Europe, but the name and her forgotten presence emerge in different ways within the story. We take you through 3 different cultural variants of Cinderella, giving you a whole different experience with this most beloved fairytale. These authentic versions of Cinderella give us a map into a woman’s psyche and what it really means to mature and integrate various aspects of the feminine.
Together we explore the images and motifs of the imaginal, and through creative play with the images, we try to unearth their meaning for us today.
"The story of Cinderella is an ancient one, one that is a classic tale about initiation into adulthood and the preparation in the adolescent years. It is also about the envy of the uninitiated as well as the parts of our own psyche that threaten to sabotage our innate goodness. If we can pass through this initiation into duality, we will find that we are able to find our wholeness beyond good and evil."
— Gauri Raje & Faranak Mirjalili
How do these tales tell the story of individuation for women and what aspects of the feminine psyche are amplified within each culture? We will also discuss together what the effect is of the 'Disneyfication of fairytales' and reclaim the important motifs in the original tales that have been sanitised by Disney.
Your storytellers: Gauri Raje and Faranak Mirjalili.
Special guest: Jungian Psychotherapist Alexis Durgee.
WORKSHOP STRUCTURE
Storytelling: at the Anima Mundi School we practice the ancient art of oral tellings, in this part of the workshop you just sit back and tune your ears to the images that speak to your imagination.
Weaving the Threads with Alexis Durgee: our special guest will reflect from a literary and Jungian perspective on the theme of our workshop. We will then take this into a discussion from both a Jungian/psychological as well as an anthropological perspective.
Q&A: time to discuss, share and reflect with the entire group.
